Aerobics really work, so there is no excuse for you to be a couch potato, you need to start today! The best definition that describes aerobics is "an exercise within the presence of air" or "an exercise within the presence of oxygen." So, aerobics is any type of exercise that you are able to participate in that you are able to do for a period of more than twenty minutes which uses all of your body's large muscles and causes some heavy respiration.

You may participate in aerobics for several hours. The more often that you are able to do it, the longer you are going to be able to extend your workout. The absolute best part is that you are going to have a lot of energy and you are going to feel absolutely great. Aerobics are also really great for your skin, because there will be an increase in the blood flow.

Among the aerobic exercises that you can choose to participate in, you will find walking, swimming, jogging, bicycling, skating, stepping, and a combination of all of the exercises. Now that you know a couple of the exercises that you can participate in, it is very important that you take a look at a couple of factors that are going to have a direct impact on your own aerobic fitness:

Heredity: All of your genes are going to play a very important role in how well your body is going to respond to aerobic exercise. Around forty percent of your potential to perform well comes from your parents.

Training: Always remember that the more the body participates in something, the more it is going to be used and the easier the activity is going to become for the body. The same applies to aerobics. Initially, the first couple of times that you participate in aerobics, you are going to feel like you are dying, but after a couple of times, it is going to get easier. The key to success here is to get into the routine of participating in aerobic activity. The reason for this is because if you break your routine or slack down, your body is going to have to adapt to working out all over again.

Now that you are aware of what aerobics are and what factors impact aerobic fitness, you will be able to determine whether or not aerobics is truly something that you are interested in. However, because this exercise can be done virtually anywhere for little or not cost, it would be in your best interest to incorporate some type of aerobic exercise into your weekly or even daily routine for optimum physical as well as emotional well being.
